In my opinion, the primary problem with the Roman Catholic church is that she has deliberately abandoned beauty. She has a vast treasure trove of sacred art and music that she could revive *today* that would have an immensely positive impact on the Faith. Until she does that, I fear that people will continue to leave her.

From 1962 onwards Vat II modernist era came out of the closest big time. Yes, I am blessed beyond words to attend a TLM in a FSSP parish. I attend St Paul’s N O too. The modernist infection has moved into all aspects of Catholic life. Meaning the modernist spirit has taken away much and white washed architecture, visual art, sculpture, prayer, music —everything. Be encouraged this next generation of young families is truly bringing a new renaissance to the Holy Catholic Church through the TLM. It is an exciting and dangerous time we are in.

I think that this is playing a big role in gaining converts to tradition. TLM parishes and Ordinariate parishes see packed pews each Sunday, and these are the parishes that most consistently preserve the beauty of the liturgy, with all the sights, sounds, and smells that come with it. Similarly, Novus Ordo parishes that do the same are also thriving, while those that do not see fewer and fewer people in the pews each Sunday. The beauty of the liturgy as it existed for centuries, as well as the art and hymns (and chants) that have always accompanied it, elevates us to the divine rather than attempting to bring the divine down to us. I remember writing about this once for a class; if I can find my notes, perhaps this will be the topic of my next post!

🙂✅🙏🏾. Note: the boomer generation aka Silver Tsunami 🌊 😆 is aging out and I don't say this in a mean way. I mention this because we are seeing the end of their era. My father now 82, was given a private traditional Catholic education. He gave it all up to be a beatnik etc, same with my mother who has passed 🙏🏾 The '60s and ’70s were a shipwreck for the world 🌎 which of course includes Vat II.

That's a good way to put it. Elevation, not more of the same mundanity.

Hello, Thank you for this article 🙂 I loved it. I attend TLM at Holy Family Parish in Vancouver, BC Canada 🇨🇦 and sing year-round in the choir. It has been almost 2 years and I’m in a deep dive into everything Gregorian and Medieval ♥️✨ I forwarded your piece to our Choir Director. How much does it cost to subscribe ❓with deep-felt thanks, Erika
