Masterpieces like this are what led me into the world of Aquinas and the other Fathers. But somebody thought it was a good idea to replace this with stuff like "On Eagle's Wings". I just don't understand. Why are they purposefully denying people spiritual nourishment?
St. Thomas’ hymns are truly timeless. It’s tragic that we have replaced timeless chants with pieces that are very much rooted in the decade in which they were composed. That’s actually a big part of what inspired me to start this site. People in the pews know the “old” hymns from the 70s and 80s, but they don’t know the truly old hymns of our heritage. I hope and pray that God may use my site to help change that.
I love all of Aquinas' hymns, they are marvellous. This one I copied into my prayer book, I use it at adoration.

I do too. People don't know what they don't know.
Thank you for this. I didn't know about this hymn.
